Blycolin Bunschoten wins FTN Energy Prize 2016:

“Saving energy is top of mind for us”

We are ordering cake, because we are celebrating! During the National Symposium Textile Management on November 17, Blycolin Bunschoten was awarded with the FTN Energy Prize 2016. A magnificent confirmation for the team that has been taking progressive initiatives and innovative steps with its partners and customers.

The FTN Energy Prize: a valuable award

The FTN Energy Prize is an initiative of the branch organization Federatie Textielbeheer Nederland (Federation textile management Netherlands) in cooperation with the Rijksdienst voor Ondernemend Nederland (National agency for Dutch entrepreneurs).
As an important representative of progresssive laundries and linen renters, the organization stimulates its members to continue making improvements in quality and sustainability. Guillaume van Enter (Operational Director Laundries) received the award, the challenge cup and the accompanying certificate from Mr. Bouke Bussemaker, project manager of Energy, Telecom and Markets, Department of Commerce. The prize, awarded based on results, a visit of the jury to the company and a short presentation during the NST, is both a confirmation and an incentive to the winner.

Blycolin focusses on improving the primary process…

During the symposium, each nominee gave a presentation. Amidst the other nominees, Blycolin Bunschoten inspired those present by telling about the energy savings the team are realizing. The dryer optimzation, a new dewatering press and the EU Ecolabel certified Cool Chemistry Hospitality washing concepts are all prime examples, just as the Laundry Dashboard. The latter provides insight and important information about, for instance, energy consumption to employees.

…and making everything about it more energy-efficient

However, Blycolin Bunschoten continues to make the organization and the chain more energy-efficient. Besides the primary process, the company also focuses on the facilities and processes in and around the company. For instance, with a new truck with lower CO2 emission, energy-saving lighting and optimizing the insulation values of the building. In all these initiatives, Blycolin works together, not just with partners, but also with its customers.

A clear goal and a dedicated team

The motivation for the initiatives ensues from the goal that Blycolin has pursued for almost 45 years: improving quality and sustainability. Guillaume van Enter, Operational Director Laundries at Blycolin Bunschoten, is of course excited about the award: “We have been working on energy-savings for years, it is top of mind for us. We have a dedicated team that works on this every day. I am so proud of them.”
