TREE PLANTING

4 Nov 2024

Together with our customers in the Groene Woud, Brabant

This initiative was aimed at preserving and enhancing the biodiversity of the area.

On Wednesday, February 7th, we welcomed our customers in Boxtel. They were invited to an exclusive Blycolin x Hotels for Trees Tree Planting Day. On this day, we aimed to contribute to a greener world in a practical and accessible way.

The impact of textiles is significant. We continuously seek solutions to reduce this impact. We are making our processes and materials more sustainable. We wash with less water and energy. We recycle our products and explore ways to reintegrate recycled materials back into the supply chain for textile reuse. However, it is crucial that we collectively work on sustainability across multiple fronts. Together with our partners. One of those partners is Hotels for Trees.

Skipping room cleaning

Hotels for Trees plants a tree every time a room cleaning is skipped. Hotel rooms are typically cleaned daily, but for multi-day stays, daily cleaning is often unnecessary. With a special door hanger, hotel guests can indicate that they don’t require their room to be cleaned on that particular day. This allows guests to directly influence sustainability and offset the environmental impact of their stay. Additionally, it results in water and energy savings and reduces costs. Part of the cost savings is used to plant one tree for each skipped room cleaning. Since 2021, 193 hotels have joined this initiative, and nearly 300,000 trees have been planted in various countries.

Guests can see their impact directly on the Hotels for Trees website. The number of trees planted each day is displayed for each participating hotel. So, after their hotel stay, guests can immediately see their contribution. Hotels for Trees helps combat waste and directly promotes environmental improvement. Once planted, a tree can make a difference for decades to come!

Groene Woud

In the Groene Woud, Brabant, we planted 600 trees of 11 different species: Gelder Rose, European White Elm, Small-leaved Lime, Large-leaved Lime, English Oak, Buckthorn, Dogwood, Rose, Hornbeam, Field Maple, and Hazel. We transformed former agricultural land into shelter for wildlife and created an attractive habitat for rare bird species. By planting these trees, we connected existing nature reserves, creating larger contiguous habitats for various plants! Through this action, we hope to contribute to the preservation and enhancement of biodiversity in the Groene Woud.
